Here’s what we know so far: Episode VII will take place thirty years after the defeat of the Galactic Empire and the heroes from the original trilogy, episodes IV, V, and VI, face a new threat from the evil Kylo Ren, wielder of the lightsaber with cross guards, and his army of Stormtroopers. Most fans assume that while the new movie will feature all of the old heroes, aka Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo, from now on there will be new heroes that take on the threats that face the Star Wars universe. Those new heroes are Finn and Rey. Finn is an ex-Stormtrooper who is shown in a panic on the desert world Jakku and Rey is a scavenger on the same world. Fans have speculated that Finn would be a Jedi after a poster was released that showed Finn holding Luke Skywalker’s blue lightsaber. Surely, many fans of Star Wars had hopes that the original heroes would again be the main characters of the new trilogy, but having new characters is not a terrible thing. Oftentimes movie or book sagas are unable to move past main characters and end up stuck in a loop of repetition. While Luke, Leia, and Han will play large roles in the new movie most people expect Episode VIII to feature more of Finn and Rey. And on the subject of Episode VIII, fans are wondering what the future will hold for the Star Wars franchise as a whole.

A schedule found on denofgeek.us shows Star Wars movies being released every year until 2020. On December 18th, Star Wars Episode VII is released. A year after that, on December 16th, 2016, Rogue One will be released. Rogue One is suspected to be a heist story about a group of Rebels and how they stole the plans for the Death Star. Shortly after Rogue One is released theaters will be showing Episode VIII on May 26th, 2017. Fans will see a young Han Solo on May 25th, 2018, in Star Wars Anthology: Han Solo. This story will focus on Han Solo and how he became the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel that Luke and Obi-Wan met in the Mos Eisley Cantina. Right now there is no confirmed date for Episode IX but it will be released sometime in 2019. And lastly we have Star Wars Anthology: Boba Fett. This movie, presumably, will follow Boba Fett during the time in between seeing his father decapitated by Mace Windu and freezing Han Solo in carbonite. Or it could follow the bounty hunter after he falls in the Sarlacc Pit on Tattooine, as in the previously canon extended universe Boba Fett survives that and maintains his legendary status.

Not much information has been released on these far away movies, such as the Boba Fett anthology and Episode IX, but fans will have plenty to deal with in the not too distant future. New video games like Star Wars: Battlefront, new action figures and toys, plenty of nostalgia that will awaken the Force in all of us.
