Voters Question Funding on Tobacco Tax Measures

New to Missouri’s ballot this year is Amendment 3 and Proposition A. Each measure promises to raise Missouri’s lowest-in-the-nation cigarette tax of 17-cents-a-pack. Proposition A would add 23 cents to support transportation improvements and Amendment 3 would phase in a 60 cents per pack increase over the next four years to support early childhood programs. Although cigarette tax increases have floated onto the ballot before, the makers of cigarette brands have become the primary funding sources in support of the initiatives.

Q: When did you all first meet and how did that lead to the transition into a band?

Paige (lead vocals, guitar, keyboard) and Evan (vocals, drums) met at a party in Chicago back in 2002 but didn’t start dating till 2004. During their times together, they delighted each other with a shared passion of art. By learning and interpreting their individual light through a multiplicity of art forms together, Paige and Evan were able to create an even more in-depth care for one another. One of these expressions was what we know now as Sleepy Kitty. Evan stated that transitioning Sleepy Kitty from a project into a band was easy. “You never miss your partner, and not only that, but they share this intimate experience with you” he says.

Rookie Quarterbacks Duel in Dallas

The matchup many NFL fans have been waiting for finally happened this Sunday; rookie sensations Dak Prescott and Carson Wentz went head-to-head as the Cowboys played the Philadelphia Eagles in Dallas. The game lived up to expectations as no team was able to finish the other off until the Cowboys got the job done in overtime. Despite an overall weak start, Prescott was able to pull through in the fourth quarter and overtime to help the Cowboys win. Prescott’s clutch performance gives Dallas a tough choice to make as Tony Romo gets closer to being healthy enough to play.

Chiefs Battle Injuries in Win Over Colts

In many ways, Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts was not the way that Kansas City Chiefs fans were envisioning when the game got underway.  The 4-2 Chiefs traveled to Lucas Oil Stadium this past weekend and were able to pull out their third consecutive victory, despite losing some key players to injuries during the game.
